Journal History

Jurnal Bikotetik (Bimbingan dan Konseling: Teori dan Praktik) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes original research, theoretical studies, and evidence-based practices in the field of guidance and counseling. The journal released its inaugural issue (Vol. 1 No. 1) in May 2017, with Ari Khusumadewi serving as the founding Editor in Chief.

Since Vol. 2 No. 1 (May 2018), Jurnal Bikotetik (Bimbingan dan Konseling: Teori dan Praktik) has implemented article processing charges and adopted a double-blind peer review system to ensure academic rigor and publication sustainability. The May 2018 issue published seven articles. In July 2018, the journal underwent the national accreditation assessment through ARJUNA (National Journal Accreditation) conducted by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia. In the same year, Jurnal Bikotetik (Bimbingan dan Konseling; Teori dan Praktik) was indexed in Crossref and registered in SINTA (Indonesian National Journal Ranking).

Editorial leadership has evolved in line with the journal’s development. Moch. Nursalim was appointed Editor in Chief in May 2019, followed by Bakhrudin All Habsy in May 2023. Since May 2023, each issue has consistently published up to ten articles. In September 2023, Jurnal Bikotetik (Bimbingan dan Konseling; Teori dan Praktik) was officially accredited at SINTA 4 by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia.

The journal demonstrates steady internationalization. By November 2024, publications included authors from four countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, and Nigeria). This expanded to six countries by May 2025 (Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Nigeria, Egypt, and Jordan), and further to eight countries by November 2025 (Australia, United Kingdom, Japan, Nigeria, Egypt, Yemen, Malaysia, and Indonesia).

In January 2025, the editorial board formally recommended Bikotetik for Scopus indexing. The journal has since been indexed in Dimensions, Crossref, and Garuda, strengthening its global visibility and citation potential. To align with international publishing standards, Jurnal Bikotetik (Bimbingan dan Konseling; Teori dan Praktik) revised its focus and scope and redesigned its journal website in December 2026. Further enhancements were implemented in January 2026 through the expansion of the Editorial Board and reviewer pool, along with updates to the journal manuscript template.

Through continuous editorial refinement and increasing international reach, Jurnal Bikotetik (Bimbingan dan Konseling: Teori dan Praktik) is committed to contributing to the global advancement of guidance and counseling research and practice.
