Mengalami Masjid Sebagai Lingkungan Restoratif

This study was aiming at exploring studentss restorative experience of visiting a mosque in campus area. A qualitative approach with phenomenological method was employed. Five students who were chosen purposively based on their visit frequencies to the campus mosque were involved in this study.Data collected using semi-structured interviews and analyzed using interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). The result shows that students report that they are able to restore their physical and psychological conditions after visiting the mosque for routine praying and relaxing. For most participants, the mosque they are visiting in campus is attractive since it has a wide open space inside with quiet, windy and fresh atmosphere. Most participants also reports that they do some allowed relaxing activities in mosque such as chatting with friends and taking a rest temporarily in the mosque terrace which make their fatigues and motivation restored. Visiting the campus mosque makes participants experience some condititions such as having more excitement, more calm and more capable of maintaining motivation to do their routine activities as a student.
Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pengalaman mahasiswa ketika menggunakan Masjid kampus. Fokus ditekankan pada bagaimana masjid sebagai sebuah tempat ibadah dimanfaatkan oleh mahasiswa sebagai sumber lingkungan restoratif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Partisipan merupakan lima mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Surabaya yang dipilih secara purposif berdasarkan jumlah dan kebiasaan dalam menggunakan masjid. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara semi terstruktur. Analisis data menggunakan teknik interpretative pnenomenological Analysis (IPA). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa para partisipan melaporkan bahwa mereka dapat memulihkan kondisi fisik dan memperoleh kondisi psikologis yang lebih baik dengan mengunjungi Masjid kampus. Daya tarik masjid yang mendorong para partisipan menggunakannya adalah bentuk bangunan masjid yang lapang, suasana atau atmosfer lingkungan yang segar dan tenang, serta beberapa kemudahan yang bisa diakses secara terbatas di teras masjid selain beribadah, yaitu untuk ngobrol dengan teman atau merebahkan tubuh. Para partisipan menyatakan bahwa lingkungan fisik masjid dan suasana psikologis yang muncul di dalamnya telah membantu mereka memulihkan dirinya dari kelelahan dan membangkitkan kembali motivasi. Setelah mengunjungi masjid, mereka mengalami keadaan yang lebih bersemangat, lebih tenang, dan mampu menata motivasi untuk melanjutkan rutinitas sehari-hari sebagai mahasiswa.
