Allegations of Research Misconduct

JP (Jurnal Pendidikan): Teori dan Praktik is committed to maintaining the integrity, credibility, and reliability of scholarly publications. The journal takes allegations of research and publication misconduct seriously, whether they concern manuscripts under review or articles that have already been published.

1. Forms of Research Misconduct

Research and publication misconduct may include, but is not limited to:

  • Fabrication or falsification of research data, findings, or results.

  • Plagiarism, inappropriate text reuse, and duplicate publication.

  • Manipulation or misleading presentation of research evidence.

  • Inappropriate authorship attribution or undisclosed contributors.

  • Manipulation of citations or the peer-review process.

  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest that materially affect the integrity of the research or editorial process.

  • Unethical research involving human participants, including failure to obtain required ethical approval or informed consent.

  • Misuse of artificial intelligence or other technologies to fabricate or misrepresent scholarly content.

2. Reporting Concerns

Authors, reviewers, readers, and other concerned parties may report suspected misconduct to the editorial team.

Reports should identify the manuscript or published article concerned and provide a clear explanation of the allegation, together with relevant supporting information when available.

Reports may be submitted through the journal's official editorial email:

[email protected]

3. Preliminary Assessment

The editorial team will assess whether the allegation is sufficiently specific and credible to warrant further examination.

Where necessary, the editor may request clarification, supporting documentation, original research data, or other relevant information. Individuals with a conflict of interest must not be responsible for evaluating the allegation.

4. Investigation and Response

Authors or other individuals directly concerned will normally be given a reasonable opportunity to respond to substantive allegations.

When the matter requires investigation beyond the journal's authority or expertise, the editorial team may contact the relevant academic institution, research ethics committee, or other competent authority.

The journal will seek to handle allegations fairly, objectively, and confidentially, taking account of the available evidence and applicable ethical guidance.

5. Editorial Actions

Depending on the findings and seriousness of the concern, the journal may:

  • Request clarification or corrections.

  • Suspend editorial consideration while a serious concern is examined.

  • Reject a manuscript where misconduct is sufficiently established.

  • Publish a correction or expression of concern.

  • Retract a published article when its findings or integrity are seriously compromised.

  • Refer the matter to an appropriate institution or authority.

Editorial actions will be proportionate to the evidence and the nature of the problem. Allegations alone will not be treated as proof of misconduct.

6. Ethical Guidance

The journal's handling of research misconduct is informed by the principles and guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
