This study examines how Green Motivation contributes to Green Performance in the hospitality industry by considering the psychological and behavioral mechanisms underlying this relationship. Specifically, the study investigates the direct effect of Green Motivation on Green Performance, the serial mediating roles of Green Engagement and Green Service Performance, and the moderating role of Green Commitment across these relationships. A quantitative survey was conducted among 259 hotel employees in Palembang, Indonesia, using a Likert-scale questionnaire. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 3. The findings demonstrate that Green Motivation contributes directly to Green Performance and also operates through a serial mechanism in which Green Motivation strengthens Green Engagement, which is subsequently translated into Green Service Performance and ultimately contributes to Green Performance. Furthermore, Green Commitment strengthens the relationships at each stage of this process. These findings extend previous research by shifting the role of Green Commitment from a mediating mechanism to a boundary condition that determines the strength of the psychological and behavioral pathway toward environmental performance. The study contributes to green hospitality literature by integrating employee motivation, engagement, service performance, and commitment into a comprehensive framework for explaining Green Performance.
