In this edition, the International Journal of Chinese Interdisciplinary Studies (IJCIS) presents a special issue that brings together two complementary streams of academic contribution. The first stream highlights the International Mandarin Contest, a competition designed to broaden participation across diverse disciplines. This contest successfully attracted submissions not only from scholars of Chinese language but also from those in fields such as the arts, politics, geography, and the sciences, as well as independent writers committed to enriching scholarly discourse. From this process, four outstanding articles were selected, three from Indonesia and one from Colombia, demonstrating IJCIS’s inclusive role as an international forum for academic exchange.

Alongside these contest articles, this issue also features peer-reviewed research manuscripts submitted through the regular editorial process. These contributions underwent rigorous editorial screening and double-blind review, reflecting the journal’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and scholarly integrity. By presenting both contest-based and regular submissions in a single issue, IJCIS not only celebrates innovative ideas emerging from competitive platforms but also reinforces its dedication to fostering sustained, high-quality research.

More than a thematic collection, this issue embodies IJCIS’s interdisciplinary vision, encouraging scholarship that transcends disciplinary boundaries and situates Mandarin studies within global and interconnected perspectives. The editorial board hopes that this blend of contest-driven creativity and rigorously reviewed research will inspire future authors to explore new horizons and enrich the discourse on Chinese studies across cultures, disciplines, and communities.
