Guide for Authors

General Information

The International Journal of Chinese Interdisciplinary Studies (IJCIS) publishes high-quality scholarly works that contribute to the advancement of interdisciplinary studies related to China, the Chinese language, Chinese society, and Chinese communities, including Indonesian Chinese contexts. The journal welcomes submissions from academics, researchers, practitioners, and students from around the world. Contributions are expected to demonstrate originality, academic rigor, and relevance to the scope of the journal.

Manuscript Categories

IJCIS accepts the following types of manuscripts:

Research Articles
Original research that offers significant contributions to knowledge in interdisciplinary Chinese studies, supported by clear methodology and analysis.

Review Articles
Critical and comprehensive analyses of existing literature that identify research trends, highlight gaps, and propose future directions within Chinese-related studies.

Conceptual Papers and Case Studies
Theoretical discussions or empirical case-based analyses that provide insights into issues related to China or Chinese communities.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors are expected to prepare their manuscripts according to the following structure:

1. Title Page
The title page should contain:

  • A concise and informative title reflecting the content of the study
  • Full names of all authors, including institutional affiliations and email addresses
  • An abstract of no more than 250 words summarizing the objectives, methods, main findings, and conclusions
  • Three to five keywords representing the core topics of the manuscript

2. Introduction
The introduction should present the research background, clearly define the problem, and explain the significance of the study. Authors should review relevant literature and state the research objectives, questions, or hypotheses.

3. Methodology
This section should describe the research design, data sources, instruments, and analytical approaches used in the study. The explanation should be sufficiently detailed to allow replication. Proper references must be provided when established methods are applied.

4. Results and Discussion
Authors should present findings in a clear and systematic manner. Tables, figures, and other visual elements may be included to support clarity. The discussion should interpret the findings, relate them to existing studies, and explain their implications. Limitations of the study should also be acknowledged.

5. Conclusion
The conclusion should summarize the key findings and highlight the contribution of the study. It may also suggest directions for future research without repeating earlier discussions.

6. References
All cited works must be listed using the APA citation style. Authors must ensure that references are accurate, complete, and relevant to the study.

Reference Requirements

To ensure academic quality, authors are expected to follow these guidelines:

  • Manuscripts should include a minimum of 20 references
  • At least 80 percent of the references should be derived from reputable international journals
  • Authors are encouraged to prioritize recent publications, preferably within the last ten years
  • Self-citation should be limited and used only when directly relevant to the study

Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system available on the official IJCIS platform. Authors should follow all submission instructions carefully to ensure a smooth review process. Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format.

Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure objective and unbiased evaluation. Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process. The journal is committed to providing constructive feedback and maintaining high academic standards.

Publication Ethics
IJCIS upholds strict ethical standards in academic publishing. Authors must ensure that their work is original and properly cites all sources. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and unethical research practices are not tolerated.

Copyright and Open Access
Authors retain the copyright of their published work. All articles are made freely accessible to readers under an open access policy, allowing for the wide dissemination of scholarly knowledge.
