Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Editorial Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JPUS: Jurnal Pendidikan Untuk Semua first undergo an initial editorial screening by the editorial team within 5–7 working days of submission. This screening evaluates the manuscript's conformity with the journal's focus and scope, adherence to the author guidelines and template, and overall academic soundness. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements will be returned to the author or rejected at this stage without proceeding to peer review. Manuscripts must also include a complete AI Usage Statement in accordance with the journal's AI Usage Policy; manuscripts without this statement will be returned to the author before proceeding further.

Plagiarism Check
Manuscripts that pass editorial screening are checked for originality using Turnitin plagiarism-detection software. Manuscripts with a similarity index above 25% will be returned to the author for revision before proceeding further, or rejected if the similarity is deemed excessive.

Reviewer Assignment
Manuscripts are then assigned to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise in the manuscript's subject area, selected based on their academic background, publication record, and relevance of expertise to the manuscript's topic. JPUS applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another throughout the review process. AI Use in Review. In accordance with the journal's AI Usage Policy, reviewers are strictly prohibited from using AI tools to conduct or assist in the evaluation of manuscripts, and from uploading manuscript content to any AI-based platform.

Review Period
Reviewers are expected to submit their evaluation within 2–4 weeks of assignment. Each reviewer assesses the manuscript based on the relevance of content, originality, clarity, methodological quality, and conformity with the journal's focus and scope.

Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on the manuscript. Possible editorial decisions are:

  • Accepted without revision
  • Accepted with minor revisions
  • Accepted with major revisions
  • Rejected

In cases where the two reviewers provide significantly divergent recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief may assign the manuscript to a third reviewer to reach a final decision.

Revision
Reviewers' and editors' comments and recommendations are communicated to the authors through the Open Journal System (OJS). Authors are required to revise their manuscripts and respond to all comments within 14 days for minor revisions or 30 days for major revisions, counted from the date the decision is communicated. Failure to submit a revision within the given period may result in the manuscript being withdrawn from consideration.

Article Processing Charges
JPUS: Jurnal Pendidikan Untuk Semua does not charge any submission fee. A publication fee of IDR 250,000 applies only to manuscripts that have been accepted for publication. No payment is required at any stage prior to acceptance.
