Author Guidelines

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) document format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses an 11-point Arial font; employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The manuscript follows the official JPUS article template, downloadable on this journal's homepage.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in these Author Guidelines.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • The similarity index of the manuscript, checked using Turnitin, does not exceed 25%.
  • The manuscript includes a complete AI Usage Statement disclosing any use of AI tools in its preparation, in accordance with the journal's AI Usage Policy.

Author Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS

JPUS: JURNAL PENDIDIKAN UNTUK SEMUA

  1. JPUS publishes original research articles and scholarly studies in the field of Nonformal Education, Lifelong Learning, and Education for All. Articles must be typed using Microsoft Word, with Arial font size 11 and single spacing, following the official JPUS template. All submissions must be made through the journal's OJS platform at https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jpls. Submissions via email are not accepted.
  2. Articles must be written in English. The manuscript structure is: title; author name(s) and affiliation; abstract with keywords; introduction; method; findings and discussion; conclusion; AI Usage Statement (if applicable); and references.
  3. Titles should not exceed 10 words, written in centered, capitalized text with 14-point font size, and should clearly reflect the novelty of the study.
  4. Author identity consists of the author's name and institutional affiliation, without academic titles, written beneath the article title. For articles written by a team, the editor will correspond with the corresponding author. The corresponding author must provide a valid email address.
  5. The abstract is written in English, of no more than 250 words, with 3–5 keywords or phrases. The abstract must cover the article's background, objective, method, key findings, and novelty/contribution of the study.
  6. The Introduction consists of background, research context, a review of relevant and up-to-date literature (at least 80% published within the last 5 years), the research gap/novelty, and the objectives of the study. This section should comprise 15–25% of the total article length.
  7. The Method section is a descriptive paragraph elaborating the research design, data source, data collection technique, and data analysis procedure, comprising 10–15% of the total article length.
  8. Findings and Discussion present the analysis results related to the research problem, followed by a substantive discussion for each finding. The discussion must interpret the findings in relation to relevant theory and prior research, not merely restate the data. This section should comprise 40–60% of the total article length.
  9. The Conclusion presents a concise answer to the research problem based on the substance of the discussion. It must be written as a single paragraph and must not repeat the discussion in detail.
  10. The Reference list must include all sources cited in the text. At least 80% of references must be primary sources (journal articles, research reports, theses, or dissertations) published within the last 5 years. Authors are encouraged, where relevant, to cite articles previously published in JPUS: Jurnal Pendidikan Untuk Semua.
  11. References follow the APA 7th Edition citation style, using the author-date format in-text, e.g. (Davis, 2020). Direct quotations must include the page number, e.g. (Davis, 2020, p. 47).
  12. The reference list is arranged alphabetically. Examples:

  1. Manuscripts should follow standard scientific writing conventions for quotations, tables, and figures, and should adhere to standard academic English writing conventions.
  2. Authors are fully responsible for any legal consequences arising from the use of licensed software, data, or third-party intellectual property referenced in their manuscript.
  3. AI Usage Disclosure. Authors must disclose any use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation of their manuscript through a mandatory AI Usage Statement, placed at the end of the manuscript before the References section. AI tools may only be used for language editing, grammar checking, and proofreading; they must not be used to generate research findings, data analysis, interpretation of results, or other substantive intellectual content, and cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Full details are available in the journal's AI Usage Policy.

Example AI Usage Statement (if AI tools were used):

"During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [name of AI tool] for [stated purpose, e.g., language editing and proofreading]. The author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take full responsibility for the content of this publication."

Example AI Usage Statement (if no AI tools were used):

"No AI tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript."
