The Decolonizing the Papuan Body: Hybridity and Identity Politics in Jecko Siompo’s Animal Pop Choreographic Practice Dekolonisasi Tubuh Papua: Hibriditas dan Politik Identitas dalam Praktik Koreografi Pop Hewan Jecko Siompo

Abstrak

Dalam lanskap tari kontemporer Indonesia, tubuh Papua kerap berada di dalam ruang kontestasi antara eksotisme kolonial dan modernisasi global. Studi ini mengeksplorasi Animal Pop karya Jecko Siompo sebagai instrumen dekolonial strategis yang mereartikulasi identitas Papua melalui sintesis canggih antara insting ekologis, tari jalanan urban, dan ketubuhan-tekno (techno-embodiment). Menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus kualitatif di dalam ekosistem kolektif seni lokal di Papua, riset ini menganalisis bagaimana praktik koreografi berfungsi sebagai arsip yang mengejawantah (embodied archive) dari memori-memori ekologis. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Animal Pop beroperasi melalui "alih kode ketubuhan" (embodied code-switching), yang memungkinkan subjek Papua menavigasi berbagai ranah budaya—dari tradisi komunal hingga subkultur hip-hop global—sebagai sebuah perjuangan mendalam demi politik pengakuan. Lebih jauh lagi, studi ini menegaskan bahwa transisi dari pertunjukan fisik menuju kognisi digital multimodal berfungsi sebagai infrastruktur krusial bagi keberlanjutan budaya di abad ke-21. Dengan membingkai tubuh Papua bukan sebagai objek etnografis yang statis melainkan sebagai agen konseptual yang berdaulat, Animal Pop menawarkan model pedagogi dekolonial yang memberdayakan kearifan lokal di dalam ekonomi kreatif modern. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa dekolonisasi tubuh memerlukan sinergi holistik antara memori ekologis, agensi artistik, dan diskursus digital guna memastikan ketangguhan properti budaya Papua di arena global.
