Building Building Entrepreneurial Intentions and Behavior among High School Students: Integrating Entrepreneurship Education, Digital Culture, and Social Norms
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: This study was conducted to develop a broader model to explain the formation of entrepreneurial character among young people in the digital era. This study aims to analyze the influence of entrepreneurship education and digital culture on entrepreneurial intentions and entrepreneurial behavior among high school students, with social norms as a mediating variable. Method: This study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. Data were collected through a survey of 369 high school students in West Kalimantan, recruited using convenience sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. Data analysis was performed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of the SmartPLS 4 application. Results: The findings indicate that entrepreneurship education has a positive and significant effect on entrepreneurial intentions, entrepreneurial behavior, and social norms. Digital culture also has a positive and significant effect on social norms and entrepreneurial behavior. Furthermore, social norms have a positive effect on entrepreneurial intentions and entrepreneurial behavior. Furthermore, this study demonstrates that social norms significantly mediate the relationship between entrepreneurship education and digital culture and students' entrepreneurial intentions and behavior. Novelty: This study provides specific empirical evidence regarding the mediating role of social norms in linking entrepreneurship education and digital culture to entrepreneurial intentions and behaviors among secondary school students. By examining entrepreneurial intentions and behaviors simultaneously, the study elucidates how social norms underpin the relationship between educational and digital experiences and entrepreneurial outcomes within the secondary school context.
