Background: Family disharmony is a factor that has the potential to disrupt children's emotional development, particularly during middle childhood when emotional regulation abilities begin to develop significantly. Objective:
This study aims to systematically examine the relationship between family disharmony and the emotional balance of children aged 6–12.Method: This study employed a literature review approach by analyzing articles from various national and international journals related to family conflict, emotional regulation, and the development of elementary school–aged children. Results: The findings indicate that family disharmony, including parental conflict, ineffective communication, and prolonged emotional tension, has a direct impact on children’s emotional instability. Children from disharmonious families tend to experience anxiety, anger, emotional sensitivity, reduced self-regulation abilities, difficulties in social adjustment, low concentration, and increased problematic behaviors in school. Conclusion: This study highlights the crucial role of the family as the foundation of emotional regulation and emphasizes the need for family- and school-based interventions, as well as policy development and psychosocial support programs to enhance children’s emotional well-being.
