STEREOTYPES AS CHILDREN’S PERCEPTIVE JEALOUSY REPRESENTED IN A.A. MILNE’S POEM IN THE FASHION: A STUDY OF RIFFATERRE’S SEMIOTICS

Abstrak

Kajian tentang representasi stereotip dalam A.A. Puisi Mille In the Fashion mengeksplorasi teori semiotika Riffaterre. Hal ini memaparkan penjelasan tentang bagaimana stereotipe beroperasi dalam perspektif anak-anak tentang rasa cemburu atau iri hati. Puisi ini banyak mengeksplorasi stereotip memiliki bagian tubuh tertentu yang menarik sehingga menimbulkan pertentangan, pertanyaan, kontradiksi, dan marginalisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data kualitatif dengan menerapkan teori semiotika Riffaterre pada puisi (Riffaterre, 1978). Tahapan pembacaan, yaitu pembacaan heuristik dan hermeneutik, akan menjadi langkah untuk melakukan analisis tersebut. Hasil penelitian Milne baru-baru ini menekankan ekor sebagai bagian tubuh hewan yang mempunyai kualitas halus tertentu sehingga kualitas ekor secara heuristik diekspos dan ditunjuk. Pemaparan kualitasnya dilakukan dengan cara menghubungkan seluruh baris puisi dengan keberadaan dan kepedulian ekor itu sendiri. Dan, Milne memaparkan, dalam hipogramnya, hal-hal tersebut sebagai sarana untuk mengajari anak-anak tentang aktivitas pencerminan sebagai efek dari stereotip yang dianggap sebagai representasi dari apa yang dilihat sebagian besar anak akhir-akhir ini dari pertentangan, kontradiksi, kesamaan, dan marginalisasi.
