Authorship Criteria

JP2KG AUD is committed to ensuring that authorship accurately reflects the intellectual contributions and responsibilities of individuals involved in the preparation of scholarly manuscripts. All authors must meet the journal's authorship criteria and comply with the principles of academic integrity and responsible research publication.

1. Criteria for Authorship

To qualify for authorship in JP2KG AUD, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contribution: Have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception or design of the study; the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; or the development of the theoretical framework or scholarly argument.
  2. Manuscript preparation: Have participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval: Have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.
  4. Accountability: Agree to be accountable for their own contributions and to help ensure that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Individuals who do not meet all the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors but may be acknowledged for their contributions, with their permission where appropriate.

2. Author Contributions

All authors are expected to make meaningful contributions to the scholarly work. Depending on the nature of the research, contributions may include:

  • Conceptualization and research design.
  • Methodology development.
  • Data collection and investigation.
  • Data analysis and interpretation.
  • Development of theoretical arguments or research frameworks.
  • Manuscript drafting and critical revision.
  • Supervision and research coordination.
  • Project administration and acquisition of research funding.

JP2KG AUD encourages authors to provide a clear description of individual contributions, using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) where appropriate.

Administrative support, general supervision, funding acquisition, proofreading, or language editing alone does not automatically qualify an individual for authorship.

3. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the authors and the editorial office throughout submission, peer review, revision, and publication.

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
  2. Confirming that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to its submission to JP2KG AUD.
  3. Providing accurate author names, affiliations, email addresses, and contribution statements.
  4. Communicating editorial decisions, reviewer comments, and revision requirements to all co-authors.
  5. Coordinating the preparation and approval of revised manuscripts.
  6. Disclosing relevant funding, conflicts of interest, ethical approvals, and the use of AI-assisted technologies, where applicable.
  7. Ensuring that all authors approve the final version before publication.

The corresponding author must not submit a manuscript on behalf of other authors without their knowledge and approval.

4. Author Order and Changes in Authorship

The order of authors should be agreed upon by all authors before submission and should reflect their relative contributions in accordance with accepted scholarly practices in their discipline.

Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors after submission must be justified and approved by all authors concerned, including individuals being added or removed. A written explanation and confirmation of agreement must be provided to the editorial office.

JP2KG AUD reserves the right to suspend editorial processing while authorship disputes or requests for changes are being resolved.

5. Unacceptable Authorship Practices

The following practices are considered unacceptable:

  • Gift or honorary authorship: Listing an individual as an author without a qualifying intellectual contribution.
  • Ghost authorship: Excluding an individual who made a qualifying contribution without appropriate justification or acknowledgment.
  • Guest authorship: Including an individual primarily to increase the perceived credibility or influence of a manuscript.
  • Unauthorized authorship changes: Adding, removing, or rearranging authors without the required agreement.
  • Misrepresentation of contributions: Providing false or misleading statements about the contributions of individual authors.

Concerns regarding authorship misconduct will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures.

6. Acknowledgment of Non-Author Contributions

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet all authorship criteria may be acknowledged in a dedicated acknowledgment section. Such contributions may include technical assistance, administrative support, language editing, or other non-author contributions.

Authors should obtain permission from individuals before naming them in the acknowledgment section. Financial support and institutional assistance should be disclosed where relevant.

7. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial intelligence tools, including generative AI systems and chatbots, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to JP2KG AUD.

AI systems cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, or ethical conduct of research. Human authors remain fully accountable for all content in the manuscript, including material generated or modified with AI assistance.

Substantive use of AI must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics Policy.

8. Authorship Disputes

JP2KG AUD does not determine authorship solely on the basis of academic rank, institutional position, seniority, or supervisory authority.

In cases of disagreement, the journal may request written explanations and supporting documentation from the authors and may refer the matter to the relevant institution when necessary. Editorial processing may be paused until the dispute is resolved through an appropriate process.

The journal will handle authorship concerns fairly, confidentially, and consistently with applicable publication ethics standards.

9. Author Declaration

By submitting a manuscript to JP2KG AUD, the corresponding author confirms on behalf of all authors that:

  • All listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
  • All authors have approved the submitted manuscript and agreed to its submission.
  • No eligible contributor has been improperly excluded from authorship.
  • The author order has been agreed upon by all authors.
  • All relevant contributions, funding sources, conflicts of interest, and required AI disclosures have been accurately reported.
  • All authors accept responsibility for the integrity of the work and agree to cooperate in resolving any questions concerning its accuracy or ethical conduct.

JP2KG AUD may request additional confirmation of authorship and individual contributions when necessary.
