The Journal of Sustainable Science and Educational Innovation (JSSEI) requires research involving human participants, animals, personal information, institutions, communities, vulnerable groups, or other ethically sensitive subjects to be conducted in accordance with applicable ethical principles, institutional requirements, and relevant regulations.

 

Ethical Approval

Research involving human participants, animals, personal information, or other subjects requiring ethical oversight must obtain appropriate ethical approval, permission, or authorization from a recognized Institutional Review Board, Research Ethics Committee, Ethics Committee, institution, or other authorized body, where required.

Authors must clearly report relevant ethical approval or authorization information in the manuscript, including the name of the approving institution or ethics committee and the ethical approval or clearance number, where applicable. JSSEI requires authors to explain ethical approval, permission, consent, or authorization when such requirements apply to the research.

 

Low and Negligible Risk Research

For research classified as low or negligible risk, where formal Ethical Clearance is not required under applicable institutional or regulatory requirements, Authors should provide an appropriate ethical statement or declaration explaining the ethical basis of the research and the safeguards implemented.

For research conducted in schools, classrooms, educational institutions, or similar settings, Authors should obtain appropriate institutional or site permission where required. Such research must nevertheless protect participants' rights and welfare, including voluntary participation, informed consent where applicable, privacy, and confidentiality.

Authors must ensure that any ethical statement accurately reflects the actual circumstances and requirements applicable to their research.

 

Ethical Considerations in the Manuscript

Where applicable, information concerning ethical approval, permission, consent, or other ethical safeguards should be reported in the Methods section, preferably under Ethical Considerations.

An appropriate statement for research that does not require formal ethical clearance may be adapted as follows:

The Authors declare that this study did not require formal Ethical Clearance under the applicable institutional requirements. Appropriate permission to conduct the research was obtained from the relevant institution, and ethical safeguards, including voluntary participation, consent where applicable, and protection of participant privacy and confidentiality, were implemented.

Authors must adapt the statement to accurately reflect the circumstances, ethical requirements, and procedures of their research.

 

Consent, Privacy, and Identifiable Materials

Where applicable, Authors must obtain appropriate informed consent, permission, or authorization and protect the privacy, confidentiality, and other relevant rights of research participants and other subjects.

For research involving personal information, photographs, videos, identifiable materials, vulnerable groups, or other sensitive information, Authors must ensure that the necessary consent or authorization has been obtained where required.

When identification is not necessary for the scholarly purpose of the manuscript, Authors should appropriately protect identifiable information. Any privacy-protection measures must not alter, distort, or misrepresent information that is relevant to the scholarly or scientific interpretation of the research.

 

Author and Editorial Responsibility

Every manuscript must comply with the Declaration of Ethics in the JSSEI Manuscript Template and the relevant ethical provisions of the Statement of Manuscript Authenticity. JSSEI requires Authors to disclose applicable ethical approvals, permissions, consent, or authorizations and to ensure that these declarations accurately represent the research conducted.

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of all ethical declarations, approvals, permissions, and consent information provided in their manuscripts. JSSEI may request supporting documentation, including ethical approval, institutional or school permission, informed consent, or other relevant documentation when necessary.

Manuscripts containing inadequate, unclear, or inconsistent ethical information may be returned to Authors for clarification or may be suspended from further editorial processing. Ethical concerns identified after publication will be handled in accordance with the JSSEI Publication Ethics and applicable Correction and Retraction Policy.
