JSSEI: The Journal of Sustainable Science and Educational Innovation accepts empirical research, theoretical and conceptual studies, systematic literature review, scoping review, bibliometric review, and educational innovations at various levels that have theoretical, methodological, and practical contributions to improving the quality of science education. The scope of JSSEI: Journal of Sustainable Science and Educational Innovation includes:

Peer Review Process

Each manuscript submitted to JSSEI: Journal of Sustainable Science and Educational Innovation goes through an editorial flow consisting of six main stages, namely Submission, Initial Check, Peer Review, Final Check, Editing & Proofreading, and Publication.

At the Submission stage, the author submits the manuscript through the journal system in accordance with the author's provisions and guidelines set by JSSEI. The submitted manuscript must be completed with the necessary supporting documents and meet the administrative requirements and journal writing format.

At  the Initial Check stage, the JSSEI Editorial Team checks the suitability of the manuscript with the focus and scope of the journal, the completeness of the manuscript components, the suitability with the author's templates and guidelines, the completeness of supporting documents, and the level of similarity of the manuscript. Manuscripts that have not met the initial requirements can be returned to the author for correction or rejection before entering the peer review process. Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements will be continued to the Peer Review stage.

JSSEI implements a double-blind peer review system. In this system, the identities of authors and Reviewers are kept confidential during the assessment process. Each manuscript is assessed by at least two independent Reviewers who have expertise in the field of manuscript review. If necessary, the Editor may engage additional Reviewers to obtain a more comprehensive assessment.

The reviewer assesses the manuscript based on several key aspects, including novelty, originality, suitability with the focus and scope of the journal, accuracy of the research method, quality and accuracy of the data, strength of analysis, relevance of discussion, contribution to science education, learning innovation, STEM integration, environment and sustainability, use of technology, and compliance with research and publication ethics. The reviewer provides comments, suggestions, and recommendations objectively and constructively as material for the Editor's consideration in making editorial decisions and helping the author improve the quality of the manuscript.

The entire peer review process is confidential. Manuscripts, data, images, additional files, reviewer reports, author responses, and editorial communications may not be shared, uploaded, or used outside of the legitimate editorial and peer review process. Reviewers and Editors who have a potential conflict of interest with the author, institution, funding, topic, or content of the manuscript are not allowed to be involved in the manuscript review process.

Authors can suggest prospective Reviewers who have expertise and a publishing track record that is relevant to the field of manuscript study. However, the final decision regarding the selection of Reviewers is entirely the authority of the JSSEI Editor. The selected Reviewers must have appropriate competencies and have no conflict of interest with the author or the reviewed manuscript.

After the author responds to the Reviewer's comments and makes improvements to the manuscript, the manuscript will enter the Final Check stage. At this stage, the Editor checks the completeness of the revision and ensures that the responses and improvements made by the author have responded to the Reviewer's comments and recommendations. The Editor also ensures that the manuscript meets the scientific standards, substance, format, and publication ethics of JSSEI.

Manuscripts that are declared accepted will enter the Editing & Proofreading stage. At this stage, the manuscript is checked for aspects of language, writing style, format, references, layout, and consistency of presentation. Galley proof can be sent to the author for review before the article is published. After the final correction process is completed, the article is declared ready for publication.

At  the Publication stage, articles that have completed the entire editorial and editing process will be published online through the JSSEI website. Articles can be published as Article in Press or entered into the scheduled publication numbers, namely July and December.

All stages of the editorial and peer review process at JSSEI: Journal of Sustainable Science and Educational Innovation are carried out based on the principles of fairness, objectivity, confidentiality, transparency, editorial independence, and academic integrity.

Publication Frequency

JSSEI: The Journal of Sustainable Science and Educational Innovation is dedicated to researchers, lecturers, teachers, students, and educational practitioners to publish research results and innovations in the field of science education that integrate STEM, educational technology, the environment, and sustainability. JSSEI is published twice a year, namely in July and December.

Anti Plagiarism and Similarity Policy

All manuscripts submitted to JSSEI: Journal of Sustainable Science and Educational Innovation must be original works and have never been published or submitted to other publication media. Each manuscript will go through similarity checking to detect potential plagiarism. Manuscripts that are indicated by plagiarism or have an inappropriate level of similarity may be returned for correction or rejection. The author is responsible for the originality and integrity of the manuscript.

Reference Management Software

All manuscripts that are included in JSSEI: Journal of Sustainable Science and Educational Innovation should use reference management software (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, and EndNote) with the American Psychological Association (APA) Style citation style in writing references.
