Copyright and Licensing Policy
Repertoar Journal is committed to protecting intellectual property rights, supporting ethical scholarly publishing, and promoting the responsible dissemination of research in music and music education. This policy explains the journal's provisions concerning copyright ownership, publication rights, open-access licensing, author responsibilities, and the reuse of published materials.
1. Copyright Ownership
In accordance with the journal's existing copyright notice, copyright in articles accepted for publication is assigned to Repertoar Journal, subject to the applicable copyright transfer agreement and the rights held by the respective parties.
Authors retain the right to be properly identified and acknowledged as the creators of their scholarly works. Copyright ownership and open-access licensing are distinct matters; the assignment of copyright does not eliminate the attribution requirements established under the applicable Creative Commons license.
2. Publication and Distribution Rights
Repertoar Journal holds the publication and distribution rights granted under its applicable copyright agreements. These rights support the publication, dissemination, preservation, and accessibility of scholarly articles through the journal's official publishing platform.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, that all contributors receive appropriate acknowledgment, and that the submitted materials do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.
3. Open Access and Creative Commons License
Repertoar Journal supports open-access scholarly publishing. Articles published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0) may be accessed, copied, distributed, reproduced, and adapted, including for commercial purposes, provided that the applicable license conditions are satisfied.
Under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, users are required to:
- Provide appropriate attribution to the original author(s), identify the source of publication, and include a link to the applicable license.
- Indicate whether changes have been made to the original material.
- Distribute adaptations under the same license or another license permitted by the ShareAlike provisions.
- Refrain from applying additional legal terms or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the license.
For further information, please refer to the official Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
The license applicable to each published article is determined by the licensing information associated with that article. Changes to the journal's default license do not automatically modify previously granted licenses or existing publication agreements.
4. Author Rights and Self-Archiving
Authors may share and deposit their published articles in institutional repositories, academic websites, and other scholarly platforms in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license and copyright agreement.
When distributing published articles, authors are encouraged to provide complete bibliographic information and a link to the official version of record on the Repertoar Journal website, including the Digital Object Identifier (DOI), where available.
Any reuse, redistribution, or adaptation must comply with the licensing terms applicable to the published work.
5. Third-Party Copyrighted Materials
Manuscripts submitted to Repertoar Journal may contain copyrighted materials, including musical scores, musical notation, song lyrics, photographs, illustrations, audio recordings, audiovisual materials, and other creative works.
Authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions from the relevant copyright holders whenever the inclusion or reproduction of such materials requires authorization.
Third-party materials are not automatically covered by the Creative Commons license applicable to the article. Where separate copyright restrictions or licensing conditions apply, these must be clearly identified and appropriately acknowledged.
Authors must ensure that all copyrighted materials are used in accordance with applicable intellectual property laws and relevant permissions.
6. Copyright Infringement and Dispute Resolution
Repertoar Journal is committed to addressing allegations of copyright infringement, unauthorized reproduction, plagiarism, and improper attribution in a fair and responsible manner.
Reports concerning potential copyright violations will be evaluated by the editorial team based on the available evidence, applicable publication agreements, relevant copyright laws, and the journal's publication ethics policies.
Where necessary, the journal may request supporting documentation, publish a correction or clarification, or take other appropriate editorial action, including retraction when justified.
7. Policy Review and Updates
Repertoar Journal may periodically review and update this policy to reflect developments in copyright law, open-access publishing standards, and scholarly communication practices.
Any revisions will be published on the journal's official website. Existing contractual rights and previously granted licenses will be respected in accordance with their applicable terms.
