The Presentation and Meaning of the Song “Bertaruh Pada Api” by the Band Dongker

Abstract
This study aims to describe the components of the presentation form and analyze the meaning of the lyrics of the song "Bertaruh Pada Api" at the Rima Ini Mekar tour. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with non-participant observation, structured interviews using Djelantik's theory and Gadamer's hermeneutics theory, and documentation. Data analysis techniques included data collection, observation and presentation, and data conclusions.
The results of this study are as follows: The presentation form of the song "Bertaruh Pada Api" at the Rima Ini Mekar tour included components that supported the performance: the musicians, the Dongker band; the musical instruments used: electric guitar, electric bass, and acoustic drums; the song "Bertaruh Pada Api"; the proscenium stage setting; the audience, consisting of indie music listeners; and the time and venue of the event, May 17, 2025, at Xperia Space AJBS, Surabaya. The results of the study show that the song 'Bertaruh Pada Api' has various meanings from its listeners, ranging from a form of self-introspection, as a medium for emotional expression that may not be expressed such as hopes for the struggles of life that are often felt by humans, as a social communication tool that conveys resistance and also criticism of state institutions that are not doing well.
