Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of vertical jump training on improving volleyball smash abilities in male athletes from the Skavola team. Vertical jump is one of the key factors that influence the power and height of the smash, which is important in volleyball matches. The method used is descriptive quantitative with a purposive sampling technique, where the selected sample consisted of 10 male athletes from the Skavola team who had similar ability levels. Each athlete was asked to smash the volleyball 3 times. The data collected was the measurement of vertical jump height. The results showed that the highest jump was 67 cm, which falls into the very good criteria, and the lowest jump was 40 cm, which falls into the below average criteria. The average jump height of the male Volleyball Athletes from the Skavola Team was 57.83 cm and falls into the above average criteria. Of the 12 students, two of them have quite good smashing abilities with jump heights of 53 cm and 55 cm, falling within the above average criteria, and one athlete has poor smashing abilities with a jump height of 40 cm below average. From the results of the study, we can see that students with an average jump above 55 cm can smash well.
