Peer Review Process
A Guide for Authors
Peer review is a critical step in the academic publishing journey. At Indonesia Journal of Local Wisdom Education (IJLWE), we are committed to ensuring that all published work meets high academic and ethical standards. This section explains how the peer review process works, why it matters, and how it supports you as a researcher.
What is Peer Review?
Peer review is the independent evaluation of your manuscript by experts in your field. These reviewers assess the validity, originality, significance, and clarity of your work to determine whether it is suitable for publication in IJLWE.
This process not only safeguards the academic quality of the journal but also offers authors an opportunity to receive constructive, expert feedback that helps improve their work before publication.
How the Peer Review Process Works at IJLWE
- Initial Editorial Screening
After submission, your manuscript will undergo a preliminary review by the editorial team to assess: - Relevance to the journal’s aims and scope
- Adherence to submission guidelines
- Basic ethical and technical standards
- Double-Blind Peer Review
If your manuscript passes the initial screening, it will be sent to at least two independent reviewers. IJLWE uses a double-blind review process, meaning: - Reviewers do not know the authors’ identities
- Authors do not know the reviewers’ identities
- Review Criteria
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on: - Relevance and contribution to local wisdom education
- Originality and depth of the research
- Methodological rigor and clarity
- Theoretical and/or practical significance
- Ethical considerations and community sensitivity
- Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor will make one of the following decisions: - Accept with no or minor revisions
- Request major revisions
- Reject, with explanation and feedback
- Revisions and Resubmission
If revisions are requested, authors will have the opportunity to respond to the reviewers’ comments and improve the manuscript accordingly. Revised papers may be sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation. - Final Decision and Publication
Once all revisions are complete and accepted, your paper will be scheduled for publication in the journal.
Why Peer Review Matters
Peer review plays several vital roles in scholarly publishing:
- ✅ Ensures Quality: Expert evaluation helps verify that your work is methodologically sound, well-reasoned, and impactful.
- ✅ Enhances Credibility: A peer-reviewed article carries more weight and trust in the academic community.
- ✅ Improves Your Work: Constructive feedback from reviewers often strengthens your arguments, clarifies your writing, and points out overlooked literature.
- ✅ Protects Academic Integrity: It acts as a safeguard against plagiarism, data manipulation, and other forms of misconduct.
Your Role as an Author

- Submit your best version of the manuscript
