Archiving

Bima Loka: Journal of Physical Education is committed to the long-term preservation and permanent accessibility of all published scholarly content. This page describes the electronic backup and preservation systems in place to ensure continued access to published articles — including in the event that the journal ceases publication.

1. Preservation Systems
To ensure the redundancy and resilience of its digital archive, Bima Loka: Journal of Physical Education participates in the following recognized preservation systems:
System Status Description
PKP PN
PKP Preservation Network
✅ Active A free preservation service provided by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) specifically for OJS-based journals. Articles are automatically deposited into a decentralized, distributed network of preservation nodes maintained by participating libraries. PKP PN ensures that content remains accessible even if the journal's own server becomes unavailable.
LOCKSS
Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe
✅ Active An open-source, library-based digital preservation infrastructure developed at Stanford University. LOCKSS preserves content by maintaining multiple distributed copies across a global network of participating institutions, ensuring redundancy and resilience against data loss.
Garuda
Garba Rujukan Digital
✅ Active The national digital journal portal maintained by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemdiktisaintek). All published articles are indexed and archived in Garuda, ensuring national-level preservation and discoverability.
Google Scholar ✅ Active All published articles are indexed by Google Scholar, providing an additional layer of discoverability and serving as a secondary reference point for bibliographic access to the journal's content.
UNESA Institutional Repository ✅ Active As a journal published under Universitas Negeri Surabaya, published content is backed up and preserved within the institutional repository infrastructure of UNESA, providing a university-level guarantee of content availability.
2. Contingency Plan: If the Journal Ceases Publication
In the event that Bima Loka: Journal of Physical Education ceases publication for any reason — including institutional changes, funding discontinuation, or technical failures — the following measures are in place to ensure that all previously published content remains permanently accessible to readers:
  • All articles deposited in PKP PN will remain available through the PKP Preservation Network's distributed node system, independently of the journal's own server or domain.
  • All articles preserved under the LOCKSS system will continue to be accessible through participating library nodes worldwide.
  • Bibliographic records and metadata for all published articles will remain indexed in Garuda and Google Scholar, allowing readers to locate and access archived copies.
  • The UNESA institutional repository will serve as an institutional-level backup, ensuring that all content published under the university's umbrella is retained regardless of the journal's operational status.

These combined systems ensure that the scholarly record produced by this journal will be permanently preserved and accessible, in accordance with the principles of responsible scholarly publishing.
3. Commitment to Digital Preservation
Bima Loka: Journal of Physical Education is committed to ensuring that the scholarly contributions of authors are never lost. Digital preservation is not merely a technical measure — it is a responsibility to the academic community and to the integrity of the scientific record. The use of multiple, geographically distributed, and institutionally independent archiving systems reflects this commitment.

Authors can be assured that their published work will remain accessible to readers, researchers, and institutions permanently — regardless of any future changes to the journal's platform, publisher, or operational status.
