Open Access Policy

Bima Loka: Journal of Physical Education is a Diamond Open Access journal — free to read for everyone, free to publish for all authors, with no charges at any stage. This page explains how the journal and its articles are made available to readers.

1. Access Model
Bima Loka: Journal of Physical Education is a fully Open Access journal. All published articles are freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication — with no subscription fee, no pay-per-view charge, no registration requirement, and no embargo period. Readers anywhere in the world can read, download, and print articles at no cost.

This journal operates under the Diamond Open Access model, meaning that neither readers nor authors are charged. All operational costs are fully covered by the Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Sport and Health Science (FIKK), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA).

This commitment is in accordance with the definition of open access established by the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which defines open access as the free availability of scholarly literature on the public internet, permitting any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles without financial, legal, or technical barriers.
2. Licensing Terms
All articles published in Bima Loka: Journal of Physical Education are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Under this license, anyone is free to:
  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material

3. Copyright Policy
Authors retain the copyright of their published articles. By submitting to this journal, authors grant Bima Loka: Journal of Physical Education the right of first publication under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license. Authors are free to enter into separate agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the published version (e.g., posting to an institutional repository or including in a book), provided the original publication in this journal is acknowledged. 4. No Author Fees
This journal charges no fees to authors at any stage of the publication process — including submission, peer review, production, and publication. There are no Article Processing Charges (APCs), no submission fees, and no page charges. For full details, see our Author Fees page.
5. Archiving and Long-Term Preservation
To ensure the long-term availability and preservation of published content, all articles are archived in the following systems:
  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) — a distributed preservation system used by libraries worldwide
  • PKP PN (Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network) — a free preservation service for OJS journals
These systems ensure that published articles remain permanently accessible even in the event of technical failures or changes to the journal's platform.
6. Editorial Independence
All editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial, financial, or institutional interest. Advertising, reprints, or other revenue sources have no influence on editorial decisions. This journal adheres to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practices in Scholarly Publishing as defined by COPE, DOAJ, OASPA, and WAME.
