Publication Ethics

Glocal Praxis in Elementary Education (GPrEEc) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the Core Practices and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This statement outlines ethical responsibilities for all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Ethical Principles

GPrEEc adheres to the following COPE Core Practices:

  • Integrity and transparency in research and publication

  • Accountability in authorship and contributorship

  • Fair and unbiased peer review

  • Confidentiality in editorial processes

  • Management of conflicts of interest

  • Ethical oversight of research involving human participants

  • Handling of misconduct, corrections, and retractions

2. Responsibilities of Authors

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original work and appropriately cite or quote the work of others. All manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and falsification are strictly prohibited.

Multiple and Redundant Publication

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish redundant versions of the same research.

Authorship and Contribution

Authorship should reflect individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All authors must approve the final manuscript.

Data Transparency

Authors should ensure accuracy of data and be prepared to provide access to data where appropriate.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest.

Ethical Research Involving Humans

Research involving human participants must comply with ethical standards and include informed consent where applicable.

Corrections and Retractions

Authors must promptly inform the editor if significant errors are discovered and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts to publish based on scholarly merit, originality, and relevance.

Fairness and Impartiality

Manuscripts are evaluated without discrimination regarding race, gender, nationality, or institutional affiliation.

Confidentiality

Editors must ensure confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclose information to unauthorized parties.

Conflict of Interest

Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

Handling Misconduct

Editors will take appropriate action in cases of suspected misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data manipulation) following COPE guidelines.

4. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.

Objectivity and Constructiveness

Reviews should be conducted objectively, providing clear, evidence-based, and constructive feedback.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify uncited relevant work and report similarities or overlaps.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline review if conflicts of interest exist.

5. Peer Review Process

GPrEEc implements a double-blind peer review process. All submissions are evaluated by independent reviewers to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance.

6. Publisher Responsibilities

The publisher ensures that editorial independence is maintained and that commercial considerations do not influence editorial decisions. The publisher supports ethical oversight and integrity in scholarly communication.

7. Ethical Oversight and Misconduct Handling

All allegations of misconduct (including plagiarism, data falsification, authorship disputes) will be investigated following COPE flowcharts and guidelines. Appropriate actions include:

  • Manuscript rejection

  • Retraction or correction

  • Notification to authors’ institutions if necessary

8. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

GPrEEc will issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when required to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

9. Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain responsibility for ensuring that their work does not infringe copyright or violate any legal rights.
