About the Journal

Focus and Scope

This journal aims to serve as a bridge for researchers, practitioners, stakeholders, and educators in the field of geography, supporting the advancement of geographical science. It encourages innovative thinking in the scientific development of geography and in geography learning methods. In line with this purpose, the journal specializes in research related to geography and geography education, with a focus on Indonesia and a global perspective.

Geography Scope

The geography scope includes research on the following themes:

  • Physical Geography: Studies on the physical environment, including landforms, climate, water resources, soils, vegetation, and land use, as well as the natural processes shaping the landscape.
  • Human Geography: Research on human activities and their interaction with the environment, including economic activities, education, ecotourism, cultural practices, social dynamics, settlement patterns, and community development.
  • Regional Development Geography: Covering regional planning, equitable growth, socio-economic dynamics, policy evaluation, resource use, and impacts on community welfare and the environment.
  • Applied Remote Sensing and GIS: The use of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for earth sciences and spatial studies.

Geography Learning Scope

The scope of geography education includes research on the following themes:

  • Development of Geography Learning Methods: Innovations and improvements in teaching approaches and methodologies for geography in Indonesian schools.
  • Applied Geography Learning: Practical application and implementation of effective geography learning strategies within the Indonesian educational context.
  • Integration of Research into Learning: Utilizing geographical research findings to enhance and enrich geography learning materials and curricula in Indonesian schools.

Journal History

JURNAL GEOGRAFI Geografi dan Pengajarannya was first published in 2003 in print format. The online version has been available since Volume 15, June 2015. Starting from Volume XVII Number 1, June 2018, the journal has been managed using the Open Journal System (OJS) platform.

ATTENTION: To improve the quality of articles published in JGGP, several changes have been made to the submission guidelines and article templates, starting from Volume 22, Number 1, June 2024.
