Open Access Policy

1. Open Access Statement

JATI is an open access journal. We believe that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. All published articles are available immediately upon publication, free of charge. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full texts of articles without a subscription, payment, or user registration.

2. License

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Under this license, anyone is free to:

  • Share: copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
  • Adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use.

These freedoms apply provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s) and the original source, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are indicated.

3. Copyright

Authors retain copyright to their work and grant JATI the right of first publication. Authors may enter into separate, non-exclusive contractual arrangements for the distribution of the published version of their article (for example, posting it to an institutional repository or including it in a book), provided that they acknowledge its initial publication in JATI and give the full citation.

4. No Charges for Authors

JATI does not charge submission fees, article processing charges (APCs), page charges, color figure charges, or reprint and proofreading fees. All publishing costs are supported by Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit and are never influenced by financial considerations. If fees are introduced in the future, the change will be announced in advance on the journal website and will not apply to manuscripts submitted before the announcement.

5. Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may deposit any version of their article (preprint, accepted manuscript, or final published version) in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, or academic networking platforms at any time, without an embargo period, provided that they:

  • Include the full citation and a link or DOI to the article in JATI.
  • State that the article is published under the CC BY 4.0 license.

6. Reuse and Text and Data Mining

Readers, researchers, and institutions may reuse article content, including for text and data mining, repository storage, and educational and research purposes, in accordance with the attribution requirements of CC BY 4.0. Article metadata may be harvested through the OAI-PMH protocol provided by Open Journal Systems.

7. Archiving and Long-Term Preservation

To ensure long-term access to its content, JATI archives its articles through [specify, e.g., Portal Garuda, Universitas Negeri Surabaya repository, LOCKSS/CLOCKSS, Internet Archive]. If the journal ceases publication, previously published articles will remain accessible through these archives.

8. Persistent Identifiers and Metadata

Each article is assigned a persistent identifier ([DOI, prefix: ___]) and accompanied by complete, openly accessible metadata (title, authors, affiliations, abstract, keywords, license, and citation information).

9. Academic Integrity

Open access does not lower our standards. All manuscripts undergo peer review in accordance with JATI’s Peer Review Process, and authors and journal staff must comply with the Publication Ethics and AI Usage Policy. Articles found to violate publication ethics may be corrected or retracted, with a notice that remains openly available.

10. Policy Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be announced on the JATI website, and this page will always show the current version.

11. Contact

Questions about this policy may be sent through the JATI Contact page or directly to the Editor-in-Chief, Rofik Jalal Rosyanafi.
