About the Journal

Journal of Applied Biosciences and Agri-Food Technology (JABAT) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Fakultas Ketahanan Pangan, Universitas Negeri Surabaya. The journal provides an international platform for publishing original research articles, review papers, and methodological studies that advance the application of biosciences to sustainable agri-food systems. JABAT emphasizes interdisciplinary research integrating biological sciences, biotechnology, and engineering approaches to improve agricultural production, food quality, food safety, and the sustainable utilization of biological resources.

The journal welcomes studies spanning the continuum from biological resources and production systems to food processing and value-added agri-food products. Areas of interest include agricultural and food biotechnology, microbial and molecular biosciences, animal biosciences, aquaculture and aquatic bioresources, food science and technology, functional foods, food microbiology, postharvest technology, bio-based processing, precision agriculture, digital technologies for agri-food systems, and sustainability in agriculture and food production.

JABAT is published biannually in January and July, with the first issue to be published in January 2026. The journal is published in electronic (online) format through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and provides open access to all published articles. Manuscripts are accepted in English, and all submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure the publication of high-quality and scientifically rigorous research. The journal serves researchers, academics, industry professionals, and policymakers working in biosciences, biotechnology, and agri-food technology.
