Legal aid constitutes one of the constitutional guarantees ensuring equality before the
law and access to justice for all citizens. In Indonesia, the establishment of Village
Legal Aid Posts (Pos Bantuan Hukum Desa) represents an effort to extend legal
services to rural communities. However, the implementation of the Village Legal Aid
Post in Kalangketi Village, Sukomoro District, Magetan Regency has not yet
functioned optimally due to weaknesses in institutional governance and limited public
outreach. This study aims to analyze the implementation of governance and
socialization of the Village Legal Aid Post and to examine the urgency of strengthening
these aspects to improve legal services for the community. This research employed an
empirical juridical approach using qualitative methods. Primary data were collected
through interviews with the Village Head, the Village Legal Aid Post Manager, and
administrative staff, supported by observation and documentation. The findings reveal
that administrative management, standard operating procedures, institutional
coordination, and continuous public outreach remain inadequate. Consequently,
community awareness and utilization of legal aid services remain relatively low.
Strengthening governance through administrative reform, institutional coordination,
systematic public outreach, capacity building for managers, and periodic evaluation
is therefore essential to improve the effectiveness, accountability, and accessibility of
legal services at the village level.
