Author Guidelines

1. About the Journal

Journal of Laboratory Analysis (JLAS) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original research articles, review articles, and short communications in the fields of laboratory analysis, analytical sciences, laboratory technologies, and applied scientific research.

JLAS welcomes manuscripts that present novel findings, methodological advances, analytical techniques, laboratory applications, and scientifically relevant studies.

2. Types of Manuscripts

JLAS accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Articles – reports of original experimental, observational, or applied research.
  • Review Articles – comprehensive and critical reviews of current developments in a specific scientific topic.
  • Short Communications – concise reports of significant and novel findings that can be presented in a shorter format.

3. General Requirements

Authors must ensure that:

  1. The manuscript is original and has not been published previously.
  2. The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal.
  3. All authors have made significant contributions to the research and approve the submitted manuscript.
  4. The manuscript is written in clear and appropriate academic English.
  5. All sources cited in the manuscript are properly acknowledged.
  6. Research involving humans, animals, or other regulated subjects complies with relevant ethical requirements.
  7. Any conflicts of interest are disclosed.
  8. Funding information is provided where applicable.
  9. The manuscript follows the formatting and reference style specified by JLAS.

4. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be prepared using the JLAS Manuscript Template provided on the journal website.

The manuscript should generally contain the following sections:

  1. Title
  2. Author names and affiliations
  3. Corresponding author information
  4. Abstract
  5. Keywords
  6. Introduction
  7. Materials and Methods
  8. Results
  9. Discussion
  10. Conclusion
  11. Acknowledgments, if applicable
  12. Funding, if applicable
  13. Conflict of Interest
  14. Data Availability Statement, if applicable
  15. References

The structure may be adjusted when scientifically appropriate.

5. Title

The title should be concise, informative, specific, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations and overly broad statements.

6. Abstract

The abstract should briefly describe the background or research rationale, objective, methods, major results, and main conclusion.

Authors should avoid citations and unexplained abbreviations in the abstract.

7. Keywords

Provide 3–6 keywords that accurately represent the main concepts of the manuscript.

8. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should:

  • Be numbered consecutively according to their order of appearance.
  • Be cited in the main text.
  • Have clear and informative titles or captions.
  • Be sufficiently clear and readable.
  • Avoid unnecessary duplication of information presented in the text.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted figures, tables, or other materials when required.

9. References

Authors should use recent and relevant scholarly references whenever possible.

References should be cited consistently throughout the manuscript and formatted according to the reference style specified in the JLAS Manuscript Template.

Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote.

Authors should verify that all references cited in the text are included in the reference list and vice versa.

10. Ethical Considerations

Manuscripts involving human participants, animals, clinical materials, or other ethically regulated research must comply with applicable ethical standards and regulations.

Where applicable, authors should provide information regarding ethical approval, informed consent, animal welfare procedures, and relevant institutional or regulatory permissions.

11. Research Data and Reproducibility

Authors are encouraged to provide sufficient methodological information to allow their research to be evaluated and, where possible, reproduced.

A Data Availability Statement should be included when applicable.

12. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, personal, professional, or other relationships that could influence or be perceived to influence the research.

If no conflict exists, authors should state:

The authors declare no conflict of interest.

13. Funding

All sources of financial support for the research should be acknowledged.

If the research received no specific funding, authors may state:

This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.

14. Acknowledgments

Individuals or organizations that contributed to the research but do not qualify for authorship may be acknowledged with their permission.

15. Authorship

All listed authors should have made substantial contributions to the research and manuscript and should approve the final version before submission.

Changes to authorship after submission should be justified and agreed upon by all authors.

16. Plagiarism and Originality

JLAS does not accept manuscripts that contain plagiarism, duplicate publication, substantial text recycling without appropriate attribution, or other forms of academic misconduct.

All submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism or inappropriate overlap.

17. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the JLAS Online Journal System (OJS).

Authors should ensure that all required submission information and files are provided during the submission process.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal throughout the submission and editorial process.

18. Peer Review

All manuscripts are subject to an initial editorial assessment. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and basic requirements may proceed to peer review.

JLAS uses a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.

The final editorial decision is based on the quality, originality, scientific significance, methodological rigor, and relevance of the manuscript.

19. Revision

Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts based on editorial and reviewer comments.

Revised manuscripts should be submitted within the specified deadline and should include a clear response to the reviewers' comments where requested.

20. Publication Ethics

Authors are expected to comply with accepted standards of publication ethics, including responsible authorship, originality, appropriate citation, disclosure of conflicts of interest, and research integrity.

JLAS reserves the right to investigate suspected cases of plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, or other forms of academic misconduct.
