Peer Review Process
The Journal of Cultural Narratives in Digital Society (JCNDS) employs a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all published manuscripts. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.
Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening conducted by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor. At this stage, the manuscript is evaluated for its relevance to the journal's aims and scope, compliance with the journal's author guidelines, originality, ethical standards, and overall academic quality. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected without external review or returned to the authors for revision before entering the review process.
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject matter. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including:
- Originality and significance of the research;
- Relevance to the journal's scope;
- Soundness of the research methodology;
- Quality of analysis and interpretation;
- Organization and clarity of presentation;
- Appropriateness of references and citations; and
- Contribution to scholarship in digital society, cultural narratives, and related interdisciplinary fields.
Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the editor will make one of the following editorial decisions:
- Accept Submission
- Minor Revisions Required
- Major Revisions Required
- Resubmit for Review
- Decline Submission
Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary. The final decision regarding publication rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief.
JCNDS is committed to providing a timely review process. The average time from manuscript submission to the first editorial decision is 4–6 weeks, while the average time from submission to publication is approximately 8–12 weeks, depending on the review process and the extent of revisions required.
The journal adheres to the ethical principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure a fair, objective, and transparent peer review process.
