IMPLEMENTASI KESELAMATAN DAN KESEHATAN KERJA (K3) PADA PEKERJA MEBEL BAGIAN POLISHING SEBAGAI UPAYA PEMENUHAN HAK ATAS KESEHATAN PEKERJA DI KELURAHAN TINAP

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) for furniture workers in the polishing section as an effort to fulfill workers' right to health in Tinap Village and to identify the factors hindering its implementation. The research employed an empirical legal method using sociological and statutory approaches. Primary data were collected through field observations and interviews with polishing workers and the foreman of the MJT furniture business, while secondary data were obtained from legislation, books, and relevant scientific journals. The findings indicate that the implementation of OSH has not been carried out optimally. Although the furniture business has provided basic safety facilities, including first aid kits and portable fire extinguishers, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) remains inadequate, written OSH Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are unavailable, and no OSH training has been conducted for workers. The main obstacles include limited facilities, low worker awareness regarding the importance of PPE, insufficient guidance from relevant authorities, and workplace practices that have not prioritized occupational safety. Consequently, workers' right to health has not been fully realized. Strengthening the provision of PPE, establishing written SOPs, conducting regular OSH training, and enhancing supervision are therefore necessary to improve OSH implementation in small-scale furniture industries.
