Legal protection for workers is a fundamental aspect of achieving social justice and the welfare of the workforce. Workers in the private sector generally have a weaker bargaining position compared to employers, making trade unions a vital instrument in balancing industrial relations. This study aims to analyse the forms of legal protection provided by trade unions to their members, particularly through collective bargaining, the drafting of collective labour agreements, advocacy in industrial disputes, and protection against dismissal. The research method employed is an empirical legal approach, which involves examining the implementation of legal provisions in practice through the collection of field data, such as interviews and observations of workers, trade union, employers, and labour departments supported by a literature review of legislation and legal doctrine. The research findings indicate that trade unions play a strategic role in providing preventive and repressive protection for workers through available legal mechanisms. However, in practice, various obstacles remain, such as low worker awareness of their rights, and limitations in the organisational capacity of trade unions. In conclusion, trade unions play a vital role as workers’ representatives in advocating for labour rights. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the capacity of trade unions, raise workers’ legal awareness, and ensure the government’s commitment to enforcing the law in order to achieve more effective legal protection.
