Abstract

The convenience offered by e-wallet applications encourages fast and practical financial transactions, yet this convenience also increases the risk of overspending and impulsive purchasing among users. Internal interviews with SC management confirmed that the existing application lacks a specific expenditure-control mechanism, creating an urgent need for a preventive feature. This study aims to design and evaluate a Pocketing feature with a Budget Lock mechanism for the SC mobile e-wallet application using the User-Centered Design (UCD) approach based on ISO 9241-210, comprising Understand Context of Use, Specify User Requirements, Design Solutions, and Evaluate Against Requirements. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with two key informants from SC, then translated into wireframes, mockups, and a high-fidelity functional prototype built in Figma and Android Studio. The prototype was evaluated through Blackbox Testing and the System Usability Scale (SUS) involving five respondents. All functional scenarios were validated, and the mean SUS score increased from 73.0 (Grade C, Good) to 82.5 (Grade A, Excellent). These findings indicate that a UCD-based commitment mechanism can simultaneously restrict spending and improve perceived usability, offering both theoretical and practical contribution to fintech interface design oriented toward users' financial discipline.
