The rapid advancement of Industry 4.0 technologies has transformed workforce qualification requirements, placing greater emphasis on soft skills alongside technical competencies. As institutions responsible for preparing skilled graduates, vocational higher education institutions must ensure that their curricula respond to these changing industrial demands. This study aims to identify the essential soft skills required in the Industry 4.0 era and to explore appropriate approaches for developing these competencies within vocational education. The study employed a qualitative research design using a literature review approach by analyzing relevant books, journal articles, and previous research on vocational education and soft skill development. The findings indicate that critical thinking and problem-solving, communication and collaboration, and emotional intelligence are the most essential competencies expected by Industry 4.0. Furthermore, simulation-based learning is identified as an effective instructional approach for strengthening these competencies by integrating authentic learning experiences with digital and virtual technologies. The study concludes that systematic integration of soft skill development into vocational education is necessary to enhance graduate competitiveness and improve their readiness to meet the evolving demands of Industry 4.0.
