Abstract

In inner product space theory, two vectors are said to be orthogonal if their inner product is equal to zero. Along the way, the commonly known concept of orthogonality has developed, one of which is called the Birkhoff-James orthogonality. The basic idea of the Birkhoff-James orthogonality concept is to define the concept of orthogonality between two elements in a norm space. This research explores the properties of Birkhoff-James orthogonality in inner product spaces and characterizes linear mapping that maintains this orthogonality. The results obtained are Birkhoff-James orthogonality properties such as non-degeneracy, simplification, homogeneity, symmetry, right additivity and left additivity
