Abstract

This study investigates how SSB characteristics and ownership structure impact ISR disclosure in ICBs in Indonesia and Malaysia, as well as ISR differences from 2017 to 2023. Quantitative techniques with associative and comparative approaches are used in this reserach. This research uses panel data regression test and Mann-Whitney test for the sample used. A total of 32 ICBs in Indonesia and Malaysia registered with the OJK and Bank Negara Malaysia between 2017 and 2023 formed the sample. The findings indicate significant negative and positive impacts of SSB size and institutional ownership in Indonesia and positive impacts of SSB expertise in Malaysia. In addition, there were differences in ISR disclosure in Indonesia and Malaysia from 2017 to 2023. This study shows that an increase in ISR disclosure on ICBS in Indonesia and Malaysia can be achieved through the implementation of policies related to SSB composition and bank ownership structure. Stakeholders can therefore take these findings into account when deciding which investments to make. By looking at the effects of SSB and ownership structure on ISR as well as the variations in ISR between the two nations, this study seeks to close the gap in earlier research.
