Abstract

Physics curriculum should be aimed to help students to develop and to enhance their conceptual understanding that is considered to be one of the most important aspects in learning. Study analysis of test related to understanding of the electric circuit concept which was given to 63 SMA students in Banda Aceh Municipality showed that students has a significant misconception, the average value of misconception among SMA Negeri students of Banda Aceh Municipality on the 12 concept test electrical circuit is 54,80%. The cause of the misconception comes from the students; with the average percentage of students’ misconception is 68.16%. One alternative is the Cocoaer model to prevent the misconception among senior high school students. The purposes of Cocoaer model development to be applied to the dynamic electricity material in senior high school are to: (1) prevent students’ misconception on dynamic electricity material in senior high school, (2) improve the students’ conceptual understanding on material dynamic power in senior high school, and (3 ) connect the teaching material in order to develop understanding of concepts in preventing the students’ misconception on dynamic electricity in senior high school. Syntax (phase) of the Cocoaer models consist of: 1. Kommite and Expose Phase, 2. Confrontation Phase 3. Accommodations Phase, 4. Concept Expansion Phase and Reflection Phase.
