Abstract

Based on observations in chemistry learning activities in SMA Negeri 1 Dawarblandong Mojokerto, that is used traditional method, which is boring enough. In this method, the teachers deliver material from textbooks and sometimes do practice. The opinion of students that chemistry is a difficult subject because it contains elusive theories. They would feel tense in chemical lesson. This makes the material presented by their teachers can not be fully accepted. Then the effect of their study were low. To overcome these problems, the use of video as media (VCD) is expected to be one of the strategies in the teaching of chemistry for the learning process more fun. It is expected the learning objectives will be achieved and will increase student learning outcomes.The study design using Quasi Experiment. This study is divided into two stages, they are the pre-experiment and experiment level. The data collection method used was observation for direct observation of the implementation process of learning chemistry with video as media and test methods for students. The results of the observation of the process of implementing the use of video as media was 78%, which is in good category level. of The t-test result is 9.216 with freedom degree (d.b) 33, 5% of confidence level is 2.021. So there is a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. Means the use of video as media (VCD) brings effective influence. Thus the hypothesis in this study is acceptable.
