This ability is needed to minimise the possibility of errors in solving mathematical problems. However, the fact is that students are still unable to master the ability of reversible thinking mathematically, so that students are unable to solve the given mathematical problems. The low ability of students' mathematical reversible thinking is the background in this study. The purpose of this study was to analyse the mathematical reversible thinking ability of students on the material of flat-sided space geometry class VIII at SMPN 8 Bukittinggi. This type of research is a descriptive method that uses a quantitative approach. The subject retrieval technique uses purposive sampling technique. The subjects in this study were 29 students of class VIII.3 at SMPN 8 Bukittinggi. The research instruments used were written tests and interviews. The data analysis technique used by researchers is descriptive statistical data analysis technique. The results of this study indicate that the ability of reversible thinking mathematical class VIII.3 students at SMPN 8 Bukittinggi is categorised as moderate. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that most students have not been able to master the ability of reversible thinking in flat-sided space geometry material.
Syafira Yunita Anisa, Nana Sepriyanti, Christina Khaidir Copyright (c) 2024 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/30480 Tue, 30 Apr 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Students Mathematical Literacy Level in Solving PISA-Based Problems Shape and Space Content: Analysis from the perspective of self-concept mathematics https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/30442
21st-century learning is learning that makes literacy a major component. Mathematical literacy is the ability of individuals to reason mathematically, formulate, implement, and analyze problems to find a solution in a real-world context. This study aims to analyze the mathematical literacy ability of grade IX students in shape and space content in terms of mathematic self-concept. One of the difficult materials in mathematics is shape and space. The difficulties experienced by students have psychological factors that influence one of them is self-concept mathematics. This study used qualitative research methods with stages of giving tests, filling out questionnaires, and structured interviews. This study's subject was a grade IX A MTs PPMI Assalam Sukoharjo student. Data analysis techniques use techniques from Milles and Huberman by reducing data then presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results obtained from this study are that students with high self-concept mathematics can meet the indicators of formulating problems, using concepts, and analyzing mathematical results in real-world contexts. Students who moderate self-concept mathematics are only able to meet the indicators of formulating problems and using concepts. In contrast, students with low self-concept mathematics are only able to meet indicators using - mathematical concepts.
Kurnia Jati Pertiwi, Nining Setyaningsih Copyright (c) 2024 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/30442 Tue, 30 Apr 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Development of Teaching Materials Based on Pjbl-Abmh (Preserved Bioplastic Materials Set) To Improve Students' Creative Thinking Skills https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/28896
This research describes the process and results of developing PJBL-ABMH-based learning tools to improve students' creative thinking abilities on set material. This research uses the Plomp development model to develop learning tools through teaching modules and project worksheets, setting material with the PJBL-ABMH project learning design. The trial was conducted on 6 grade 7 students at a junior high school in Surabaya, East Java. Data collection and analysis techniques are carried out using validation sheets to determine the validity of the learning tools tested on the validator. Pre-test and posttest sheets measure effectiveness regarding students' creative thinking abilities on set material. Apart from that, student response sheets are also used to determine the practicality of the learning tools that have been developed. Data analysis was carried out using the constant comparative method technique. The results of the data analysis showed that the learning tools obtained a validity criterion of 75.5%, and each was classified as valid. The n-gain was obtained at 0.736 for the effectiveness criteria, and each obtained high effectiveness criteria. The learning tools were efficient to implement, with an average student response of 90% for the project learning design. Thus, PJBL-ABMH-based learning tools are declared valid, effective, and practical.
Anggita Auni, Siti Farida, Noval Ilham Arfiansyah, Yurizka Melia Sari Copyright (c) 2024 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/28896 Tue, 30 Apr 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Failure of National Madrasah Science Competition Students in Solving Islam-Integrated Mathematics Problem on Triangle Material https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/28154
Students, especially madrasah students, need to master Islamic integrated mathematics problem-solving. However, many madrasah students need help to solve Islamic-integrated mathematics problems. The failure occurs in one part and several interrelated parts of the solution. Therefore, this study aims to explore the failure of madrasah science competition students at the national level in solving Islamic integrated mathematics problems on triangle material. The research was conducted qualitatively on 29 students at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) or equivalent level who participated in the national madrasah science competition, and they failed to solve Islamic integrated mathematics problems on triangle material. The research instrument was a triangle problem given during the National Madrasah Science Competition (KSM) in 2023. The results showed five categories of failure: failure to provide a correct and complete process, failure to integrate Islamic values, failure to use mathematical concepts, failure to use mathematical principles, and failure to apply relevant strategies. This research contributes to teachers by characterizing student failures that can be used as a guideline in designing learning strategies that can overcome student failures. In addition, teachers can provide scaffolding to students according to the type of failure.
Imam Rofiki, Muhammad Zia Alghar Copyright (c) 2024 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/28154 Wed, 01 May 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Critical Thinking Ability of Vocational Students in Solving Systems of Equations With Three Variables Story Problems: A Review Based on Learning Style https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/23532
This study aims to describe the critical thinking skills of vocational students in solving the story problem of the equation system with 3 variables in the context of auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning styles. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Subject selection was based on the results of the learning style questionnaire consisting of six students in class XI with details of two students for each learning style. The research data were collected through critical thinking skills tests and interviews. The results showed that students with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles had different critical thinking skills. Students with visual learning styles can fulfill the aspects of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, explanation, and self-regulation. The inference aspect cannot be fulfilled by visual students. Students with auditory learning styles can fulfill the aspects of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and explanation. The aspects of inference and self-regulation have not been fulfilled by auditory students. Students with kinesthetic learning styles can fulfill the aspects of interpretation, analysis, and evaluation. The aspects of inference, explanation, and self-regulation have not been fulfilled by kinesthetic students. All students have the potential to improve critical thinking skills, one of which is that teachers can ask open questions or questions that raise students' awareness so that they can have a positive impact on critical thinking skills.
Rizky Maulidiyah, Nurcholif Diah Sri Lestari, Ervin Oktavianingtyas, Dinawati Trapsilasiwi, lioni Anka Monalisa Copyright (c) 2024 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/jrpipm/article/view/23532 Tue, 30 Apr 2024 00:00:00 +0700
