Teaching students about different cultures increases intercultural understanding. Socio-geographical factors influence the implementation of multicultural education and the level of intercultural sensitivity. This study is critical for exploring these relationships and improving intercultural education. Also, the aim of this research is to investigate the correlation between the prevalence of multicultural education and exposure to culture. This research uses correlation analysis methods to examine the relationship between multicultural educational practices and the level of intercultural awareness in a socio-geographical context. The research results show that there is a positive correlation between the implementation of multicultural education and students' intercultural awareness. The test results show a correlation coefficient of 0.63, indicating that the two variables are significantly related. Also, in the context of relationships between variables, multicultural education can increase understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity, while intercultural awareness enables inclusive interactions between individuals from different cultures.
Agnes Setianingsih, Julia Kumala Asri Drakel, Mely Tri Octavina, Putri Tipa Anasi, Rohana Sufia Copyright (c) 2024 Agnes Setianingsih, Julia Kumala Asri Drakel, Mely Tri Octavina, Putri Tipa Anasi, Rohana Sufia https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/24865 Sat, 01 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Effect of Project Based Learning on Student's Social Science Learning Results Reviewed from the Student's Initial Ability https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/31490
This study aims to evaluate the effect of using Project Based Learning (PBL) approach on students' Social Studies learning outcomes, by considering students' initial ability as a relevant factor. The research method used is statistical analysis of student learning outcomes data divided into two groups, namely the group that applied PBL and the control group that used conventional learning methods. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference in social studies learning outcomes between the two groups, with a significance value (sig.) obtained of 0.00 <0.05. This indicates that PBL has a positive impact in improving students' understanding of social studies material. In addition, there was also a significant difference in social studies learning outcomes based on students' initial ability, with a sig. of 0.00 < 0.05. However, there was no significant interaction between the application of PBL and students' initial ability in determining students' learning outcomes, as shown by the sig. value of 0.622 > 0.05. The results of this study provide an important contribution in understanding the effectiveness of PBL in improving students' social studies learning outcomes, as well as its implications for the development of more effective learning strategies in the future.
Ahmad Imam Khairi, George Shava Copyright (c) 2024 Ahmad Imam Khairi, George Shava https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/31490 Sat, 01 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 THE PHENOMENON OF CULTURE SHOCK IN NEW STUDENTS IN THE CITY OF SURABAYA https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/28302
Generally, to get better higher education, individuals are willing to migrate to cities with adequate educational facilities. Surabaya is one of the big cities in Indonesia with many universities that provide a variety of educational programs, making Surabaya a choice for migrants. When you first live in the city of Surabaya as an overseas city, individuals will of course experience shock with the new culture and environment, so it takes time to get used to the situation in the city of Surabaya. This situation is called culture shock. Culture Shooc is an event that generally occurs when an individual is in a place that is different from their living environment. This article was created to find out how the phenomenon of culture shock is felt by overseas students and the causes and impacts of culture shock that is felt. The results of this research show that the culture shock phenomenon often occurs in the early days of life in the city of Surabaya. Culture shock occurs due to environmental and cultural differences between the place of origin and the city of Surabaya. Over time, overseas students will get used to and be able to adapt to the conditions in the city of Surabaya. This research uses primary data collected through interviews with three informants, namely Kurnia (20 years), Sabrina (17 years), and Lisa (19 years), their current status is overseas students studying in the city of Surabaya.
Sita Atika Putri M, Ciara Fidela Katalaniya, Aklis Syafa Pratiwi, Fahrudi Ahwan Ikhsan, Saiful Amin Copyright (c) 2024 Sita Atika Putri M, Ciara Fidela Katalaniya, Aklis Syafa Pratiwi, Fahrudi Ahwan Ikhsan, Saiful Amin https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/28302 Sat, 01 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 USE OF OUTDOOR AND INDOOR STUDY METHODS ON STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES AT SMAN 16 SURABAYA https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/29179
Learning is an activity that can produce changes in a person, both actually and potentially. Learning will be more meaningful if children experience what they learn, not knowing it. One of the learning methods that position the active role of students in this learning is the outdoor and indoor learning methods. The problem raised in this study is whether there are differences in initial test scores and final test scores and differences in learning outcomes in experimental classes using contextual learning methods and classes using conventional methods. This study used Mann Whitney statistical test to analyze the difference in cognitive ability and learning outcomes between two classes, XI-1 and XI-2, before and after the application of certain learning methods. The pretest results showed that both classes had similar initial abilities. However, after the treatment, the class that applied the Problem-Based Learning (PJBL) method with Outdoor Study (Vlog/Long to the Zoo) showed a significant increase in learning outcomes compared to the other class that used PJBL with LKPD. This finding shows that the integration of the contextual approach in the PJBL method with Outdoor Study effectively stimulates students' critical thinking, strengthens problem analysis, and improves learning effectiveness compared to the conventional approach
Alen Ardiansyah, Anggit Athoillah Hilmy, Tika Chandrika Lestary, Niswatin, Iya’ Setyasih Copyright (c) 2024 Alen Ardiansyah, Anggit Athoillah Hilmy, Tika Chandrika Lestary, Niswatin, Iya’ Setyasih https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/29179 Sat, 01 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 THE INFLUENCE OF AN ECOPEDAGOGICAL APPROACH IN SOCIAL STUDISES LEARNING ON STUDENTS' ECOLOGICAL INTELLIGENCE https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/31527
Environmental issues are the center attention to ensure the continuation of sustainable development. Ecological intelligence is one of the important abilities that students have. One way to intervene in students' ecological intelligence can be done through learning with an ecopedagogical approach. This research aims to determine the effect of the ecopedagogical approach in social studies learning on students' ecological intelligence. This research uses a quantitative type using a quasi-experimental method. Sampling in this study used a purposive sampling technique, with a total sample of 60 students at MTs Negeri 1 Pamekasan who were divided into 2 (two) classes, namely class VII A as the control class, and class VII C as the experimental class. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, the following conclusions can be drawn; In the experimental class the average N-Gain was 71.26. Meanwhile, the control class had an average N-Gain of 48.11. Then the t-test shows that the sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.000<0.05 which can be concluded that there is a significant (real) difference in effectiveness between the effect of using an ecological approach in social studies learning on students' ecological intelligence compared to conventional learning. Finally, an ecopedagogical approach in social studies learning needs to be developed to foster sensitivity regarding the complexity of environmental problems in order to contribute to environmental issues.
Agung Dwi Bahtiar El Rizaq, Sujatno, Sea Thearith, Sorn Sovanreach Copyright (c) 2024 Agung Dwi Bahtiar El Rizaq, Sujatno, Sea Thearith, Sorn Sovanreach https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/31527 Sat, 01 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0700 THE IMPACT OF USE OF CHATGPT ON CHANGES IN STUDENTS' LEARNING BEHAVIOR https://journal.unesa.ac.id/index.php/ijgsme/article/view/28309
This research is a qualitative study that examines the impact of using ChatGPT on changes in student learning behavior.
